Rangers winger Jordan Jones has made it clear that he wants to stay at Ibrox despite rumours linking him with a transfer elsewhere, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

Back in July, the Daily Record reported that Steven Gerrard had told the 25-year-old he was surplus to requirements and since then, a number of Championship sides have been linked with a move.

TEAMtalk claimed in August that Middlesbrough, Stoke, QPR, Preston and Barnsley were all interested.

However, the winger was brought in from the cold for his first Premiership appearance of the season at Motherwell on Sunday afternoon and he took his chance.

Jones scored the Gers’ second goal and proved a handful for the opposition defenders across his 76 minutes on the pitch. After the game, he made it clear that he wants to stay and fight for more opportunities.

“It’s obvious to everyone that this is where I want to be,” he said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.  “But if I’m being honest, I did fear that things weren’t going to change for me.”

“It’s hard to ignore all the background noise. But you just have to get on with your job. Rangers is 100 per cent the club  I want to play for.

“I got my chance today and I feel like I have done myself justice. I want to be here and get a run of games. But it’s only one start so I certainly won’t be getting carried away.”

Jordan Jones says he wants to stay at Rangers despite transfer rumours – Verdict

Jones has been on the fringes of the first-team squad ever since the reckless challenge which saw him pick up a red card and an injury in the Old Firm defeat to Celtic at Ibrox last September.

At times, it did look like his time at the club was coming to an end, with Gerrard seemingly reluctant to use the winger in games of consequence.

He did well off the bench in the Netherlands on Thursday night though and shone at Fir Park.

Jones has always said it was a dream for him to join Rangers and after impressing the fans on Sunday, it seems as though he’s motivated to turn a disappointing start into a successful stint.
