Rangers transfer surprise as striker reacts to speculation

When Rangers revealed the list of players that were being released from the academy, one player who was conspicuous by his absence was Robbie Ure.

With a contract expiring at the end of the season, his name was expected to be on the list of released players, however, there has been no announcement of an extension or of his departure.

Considering he has played and scored for the Rangers first team, Robbie Ure should have been thanked for his efforts if he was on the move but his story has taken another twist in recent days.

The 6ft 3inch tall teen was seen playing for AZ Alkmaar on trial which suggests that Rangers are happy for him to explore other options.

But, without any notice from the club, there must still be a contract offer on the table to stay, why else would there be nothing confirmed?

Then, this week, The Daily Record reported that he was on trial at Kilmarnock to which the player himself responded:

“Not true.”

The story was subsequently deleted by The Record but the confusion comes from the story being in two parts.

One covering his trial at Kilmarnock, the other that red tape was an issue in his move to Alkmaar.

Why haven’t Rangers given an update on Robbie Ure?

The plot thickens when you discover that reliable sources like Heart and Hand and the Rangers Review also covered the story about Robbie Ure and his trial at Rugby Park.

Rangers have a good core of youngsters on the fringes of the first team but with the signings that Michael Beale made this summer, there is almost no chance of Robbie Ure getting another chance.

If he had signed another contract, a loan move would have been the most likely option so it is easy to see why he is exploring other options as he looks for first team football.

Hopefully, if his Rangers departure is confirmed, Robbie Ure is reccognised and the club wishes him well.

Ure might not have been deemed good enough to break through to the senior squad but his efforts and record for the academy deserves recognition.
