Rangers transfer rivals ruled out of Souttar race as they line up Dutch loan

Leading football journalist Alan Nixon has shut down the suggestion Blackburn are interested in signing Rangers target John Souttar as Rovers plunge for Deyovaisio Zeefuik.

Whilst Dutch defender Deyovaisio Zeefuik is a right-back, the move backs up Nixon’s assertion that there is “no real need” for Blackburn to sign Hearts star John Souttar as things stand.

According to the likes of the Lancashire Telegraph, Zeefuik has jetted in from Hertha Berlin to finalise a January loan move to Tony Mowbray’s promotion-chasing outfit.

The 23-year-old Dutchman represents a bold move from Blackburn and a statement of intent as they look to gain promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2012.

A €4m (£3.3m) signing for Hertha Berlin from Groningen in 2020, according to that report any Blackburn loan deal for Deyovaisio Zeefuik could be made permanent with a €3m (£2.5m) fee.

But before Rangers fans panic surrounding Blackburn investment in the likes of John Souttar as they go for those Premier League millions, Alan Nixon doesn’t believe Rovers are interested.

When asked about Rangers transfer news the reputable journalist mentioned only the Ibrox club and Sheffield United as potential suitors.

Interestingly, Nixon says we’ll see if the Gers offer more than the Blades for the Jambos star.

When then asked if Blackburn Rovers were an interested party, Nixon responded that there was “no real need” for them to be with the club well stocked defensively.

As things stand, Blackburn have the likes of Daniel Ayala, Jan Paul van Hecke and Darragh Lenihan propping up their defensive reinforcements.

The signing of Deyovaisio Zeefuik also suggests Blackburn are investing elsewhere with Rangers and Sheffield United seemingly leading the hunt for Hearts defender John Souttar.

Blackburn have also made a bid for Aberdeen star Ryan Hedges as they look to bolster their forward line.

Meanwhile, one frozen-out Rangers star could be on the move this month as an ex-Premier League “admirer” reportedly prepares an approach.
