John Souttar will make a decision over his future ‘next week’ according to a report – with Rangers hoping to land an agreement to bring the Scotland defender to Ibrox.

According to the Daily Record, Souttar will decide over the coming days where his future lies with as many as ten clubs keen to land him on a pre-contract once his Hearts deal expires in the summer.

Rangers have already signed James Sands on loan from NYCFC and are strongly linked with moves Vitesse Arnhem’s Danilho Doekhi this month – as well as the links with a swoop to bring Souttar across the M8.

Souttar’s addition would make a lot of sense for Rangers and give the Gers a strong option at centre-back as well as someone who will count towards the quote of domestically-trained players needed for Europe.

With plenty of interest in him, Souttar will have to seriously think about his next step and there are plenty of reasons why a move to Rangers would make a lot of sense.

As he gets set to make his decision over where his future lies, you can’t help but feel he’s already put plenty of thought into what he wants to do next and where he wants to go.

If that is Ibrox, Rangers should do what they can to get Souttar on the right end of the M8 before the end of the month rather than leaving him in the capital.

Meanwhile, new recruit James Sands may have to wait to make his Rangers debut as three important World Cup qualifiers loom ahead for the USA.
