Sources have told Rangers News that Lyon’s reported bid for Youssef Chermiti is expected to fall way short of the club’s valuation.

According to Foot Mercato, the Ligue 1 side are preparing an offer of less than £17m for the Portuguese striker.

The Light Blues paid £8m to sign him from Everton last summer, and after a decent first season at Ibrox, he is already being linked with the exit door.

How much should Rangers demand for Youssef Chermiti?

Rangers holding out for £25m to part ways with Youssef Chermiti

Rangers News reported in June that Galatasaray’s interest in Chermiti saw the club being open to cashing in on the striker for £25m.

No official bid was made by the Turkish club, and it seems like their interest in the forward has cooled.

At one point, he did appear to be high up on their priority list, but that no longer seems to be the case.

Would Rangers have won the league if they signed Lawrence Shankland instead of Youssef Chermiti?

Rangers News has been told that nothing has changed with regard to the Ibrox outfit’s stance on Chermiti, and they are holding out for a fee in the region of £25m.

That means that if Lyon are to bid £17m or less than that, the Light Blues are expected to reject it.

Even though it took the 22-year-old a while to get going in his debut season in Scotland, he has been viewed as one for the future, and the club will not be selling him without putting up a fight.

Will Chermiti be tempted to move to Lyon?

In recent years, Rangers have seen some of their first-team strikers being tempted to move abroad.

They lost Cyriel Dessers, Hamza Igamane, and Antonio Colak, among others, and once again, are seeing one of their regular attackers being linked with a move away.

One source close to the club has told Rangers News that, thus far, Chermiti has not shown any indication that he wants to leave this summer.

This is in contrast to Igamane last summer, who wanted to leave and did everything that he could to force an exit.

Chermiti, on the other hand, is not expected to make noise behind the scenes and will be just as happy to stay if Lyon, or any other club, does not meet the club’s valuation of him.
