Rangers are set to add Jose Cifuentes and Danilo over the coming days to a squad that already looks better in terms of profile and quality.
Both will be sizeable coups but the one for the Ecuador international is a big surprise given his previous status as a target for Premier League sides and his contract situation.
The good news is that Rangers haven’t broken the bank for Jose Cifuentes with The 4th Official revealing what the fee is.

Michael Beale revealed that a pre-contract agreement had already been signed with Rangers but that Jose Cifuentes was a target for an immediate move.
It is a similar situation to the one that we saw in January when Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin were signed when they were into the last six months of their respective deals.
Some might see spending money on a player who has already committed to joining as a waste but Cantwell and Raskin are now fully integrated and the risk of missing out was avoided.
Rangers seal bargain deal for Jose Cifuentes
According to The 4th Official Rangers are paying less than £1m for 16-times capped Jose Cifuentes which, when you consider he was valued at £6m last summer, is a bargain.
There is also the benefit of allowing other players to leave who aren’t part of the plans and getting a player in who is fully fit and ready to go for the Champions League qualifiers.

With European group stage football guaranteed, £1m isn’t a lot to invest to improve your chances of getting into the Champions League.
It’s even less to guarantee the services of a player who could make Rangers a fortune in the future – if Jose Cifuentes is the player Michael Beale thinks he is.
