Eagle eyed viewers of the open training session at Ibrox this week wouldn’t have had to look to closely to see that Scott Wright is still at Rangers.

The 25-year old has been the subject of intense speculation recently but has reportedly rejected a move to Turkey.

The 4th Official has revealed why Scott Wright won’t be leaving just yet and explained the winger’s decision.

Wright is a player who will struggle for game time this season.

The return to fitness of Tom Lawrence, Todd Cantwell’s ability to support a striker and the additions of Abdallah Sima and Sam Lammers puts him even further down the pecking order.

With no goals in over 30 appearances last season, it’s hard for him to justify knocking on the manager’s door to demand more time either.

Scott Wright knocks back Rangers departure and move to Turkey

Posting on Twitter, The 4th Official has detailed why a move that Scott Wright spoke to Sky Sports about has seen a return to Rangers instead:

“I have been informed by my very reliable source close to the Rangers board that the move to Turkey is not happening now or ever.

“The reason being is contractual issues (not wages) and not because he has had a change of heart.”

In fairness to Wright, if you have seen Pendikspor’s stadium, it’s easy to understand why he has made the call that he has.

What this highlights, again, though, is that Rangers can’t pick and choose what players they sell and where they go.

All James Bisgrove and Michael Beale can do is make a list of players and set price tags.

The rest is down to the players.

And, on this occasion, the player has decided that he would rather sit in the stand every week than play regular football due to the small print on his contract offer.
