Rangers told they’ve no chance of signing star who has got ‘better and better’

Vaclav Cerny will surely be in the running for Rangers’ Player of the Year this season unless his form falls off a cliff.

The Wolfsburg has been one of Gers‘ biggest outlets for creating chances and goals but also for putting them away with his overall numbers making for good reading.

Cerny’s finish against St Johnstone made it two in his last two and took his tally for the season to 12, with seven assists on top of that.

Rangers do not hold a transfer option within the loan deal and it’s thought it could take up to £6million to do a deal in the summer, with his contract at the Germans running until 2027 (transfermarkt).

Barry Ferguson has said he would love Gers to pull out all the stops for Cerny but did admit it might be difficult at that sort of price.

And a potential door has opened for Cerny with a former Rangers-linked winger looking likely to head to Wolfsburg.

But a former Ibrox teammate of Ferguson’s does not believe there is any chance.

Alan Hutton says Rangers have no chance on Cerny

Alan Hutton is a big fan of Cerny’s and insists he’s always confident of seeing the net bulge every time the wide man goes through on goal.

But he is adamant there is no chance of seeing a permanent deal this summer.

He told Premier Sports’ Scottish Football Social Club: “If you play Cerny in he will finish because he has been decent at that this season.

“They’ll not be able to (sign him). They won’t be able to.”

Michael Stewart reckons Cerny has improved as a player while at Ibrox, even although it was evident right from the off that he had attributes.

He replied: “I’ve got to say, you could see straight away as soon as he came in he was a good player.

“And he’s only got better and better, for me.”

What Cerny has said about permanent Rangers transfer

Cerny has previously addressed a permanent Rangers switch, but is just focusing on keeping his form up for now.

“I know how football works and, that it can then turn into a positive light if the season goes as expected,” the Czech insisted.

“I know what the situation is at Rangers, what the possibilities are. But it’s not up to me to comment on that so soon. I just have to give my best on the pitch and help the club to achieve success.

“I’m just focused on football, family and life in Glasgow, which is hectic in itself. I wouldn’t want to waste my time thinking about something I can’t control anyway.”
