Rangers are to sign a winger from Manchester City on a permanent deal, according to a Daily Mail journalist.
Jack Gaughan, a northern football reporter for the national paper, claims Brandon Barker is on his way to Ibrox.
The 22-year-old was linked with a move to Glasgow last summer, shortly after Steven Gerrard became manager [Scottish Sun].
A move never materialised then, though. Instead, he joined Championship outfit Preston North End on a season-long loan deal.
He made 16 appearances for the Lilywhites in the league, registering two assists. In the EFL Trophy, he found the net twice in two matches [Soccerbase].

Rangers to sign Manchester City winger
The Deepdale stint wasn’t his first away from the Etihad, either. Fans of Scottish football are likely to recognise the name from his spell at Hibernian, for whom he made 27 league appearances during the 2017/18 campaign.
Prior to that, he gained experience at both Rotherham and NAC Breda.
He has never featured in the Premier League for City but is a former winner of the Academy Player of the Year Award at the Premier League champions. His first-team debut came in the FA Cup against Chelsea way back in 2016, but he’s been unable to break through and it seems the heavyweights are now willing to let him leave for free.

Barker prefers to operate on the left flank, meaning if he does sign for the club, he’ll provide competition for the likes of Jordan Jones and Jamie Murphy.
