Rangers were one of 39 clubs scouting the recent Denmark v Croatia U21s match – with one tabloid tipping the Gers to consider Ajax wide talent Mohamed Daramy.
According to Danish outlet TV2, the Ibrox side were alongside the likes of Man City, AS Roma and Bayern Munich in watching the two youth sides play out an entertaining match.

Denmark won the match 2-1, with goals from Celtic’s Matt O’Riley and Genoa star Morten Frendup putting the Scandinavians 2-0 up before Croatian striker Igor Matanovic pulled one back.
But none of those on the scoresheet have been tipped as potential targets with the Daily Record suggesting Ajax winger Mohamed Daramy may well have been the focus of the Gers’ attentions.
Daramy, 20, worked with Ibrox assistant Dave Vos during the Dutch coach’s time in charge of Ajax’s second string with Rangers surely well aware of the player’s qualities.
Rangers tipped to have eye on Ajax winger Mohamed Daramy
Having already broken through into the Ajax first team, with Daramy making 13 appearances and scoring twice last season, there’s decent pedigree there.
The report suggests that the Denmark youth international winger could potentially provide back-up to Rangers star Ryan Kent or replace the winger should the ex-Liverpool star move on following the expiration of his contract this summer.
Mohamed Daramy is currently on loan at FC Copenhagen and has four years left to run on his current contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
It’s an interesting tip and certainly one which would make sense given the backdrop at Rangers but interestingly the club’s Dutch coaching staff have yet to raid their homeland for players since joining the Gers.
Traditionally, management teams stick to what they know after coming into a club but Rangers are yet to make a signing from the Netherlands since Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his team took over last November.
That’s not to say there haven’t been links though, with another player well-known by Dave Vos moving across Russia instead of to Ibrox this summer.
