Rangers target Cameron Pring produced an ‘immense’, 9/10 performance as Bristol City stunned Premier league outfit West Ham United in their FA Cup third round replay on Tuesday night.
Pring, following 90 nerve-shredding minutes at a raucous Ashton Gate, admitted that this was the first time in his career that he had ever gone head-to-head with a Premier League outfit.
Not that you’d have guessed it, the Rangers linked left-back leaving no one in any doubt about his ability to compete with an admittedly much-changed West Ham outfit.
Pring made one superb stop to deny £17 million Maxwel Cornet and also cleared an effort from England international Danny Ings off the goal-line. The Cheltenham-born 25-year-old has come on leaps and bounds in recent months but, given the nature of the opposition and the size of the stage, Pring’s 99th appearance in Bristol City colours surely ranks among his very best.

Rangers target shines in FA Cup triumph
“It was an immense performance from the full-back,” the Bristol Post wrote following that third round giant-killing, Pring’s all-action display given a well-deserved rating of 9/10.
“(The defender) was absolutely everywhere down the Robins’ left flank. He was strong and has mastered the ability to step across his man and win and shield the ball.
“Cornet and (Vladimir) Coufal rarely had a sniff on that side, with Cornet drifting over to the other wing later in the second half. He even got into the opposition box to win a header and force a corner just before half time.
“A brilliant display.”
Philippe Clement may need Ridvan Yilmaz replacement
According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers have been watching Pring closely as Philippe Clement looks to bring a new left-back to Ibrox in the aftermath of Ridvan Yilmaz’s likely departure to Serie A outfit Hellas Verona.
And a rock-solid performance against Premier League opposition – albeit a Hammers side without Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus – will not have harmed Pring’s chances of becoming the latest Bristol City graduate, after Aaron Webster, Alex Scott, Lloyd Kelly, Antoine Semenyo, Joe Bryan, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid, to depart for bigger things.
