Rangers have worked through the transfer window in flurries of activity and there is a feeling that Philippe Clement could soon be busy again.

Jose Cifuentes is set to depart in a £4.2m deal and Todd Cantwell has been conspicuous by his absence amid rumours of a move to Turkey.

Clearing space was always a key aim for the manager and getting big earners out of the squad will help to fund moves for players who have been linked throughout the summer.

Relebohile Mofokeng has the mentality to be a Rangers star

One such player targeted is Relebohile Mofokeng, the blistering Orlando Pirates winger starting to make a big impression in South African football.

Teammate Makhehleni Makhaula has been excited by the 19-year old, but has predicted a difficult ride in the upcoming season, as told to Sowetan Live:

“This is a really big season for Rele because at the end of last season, the opponents were already planning for him, so I think this season it’s going to be difficult because everyone will focus more on him, hence I am saying the [Mohau] Nkotas and other youngsters can take that pressure off him a bit.

“It’s going to be hard but he’s a boy with a big heart. I know that when he’s on the field he produces magic. He’s young but he’s on another level.

“When he came in there was Lorch but you could see that we could carry this team on his shoulders. When the chips are down, we just look at Rele and say ‘Rele what’s going on’ and he’ll tell you ‘ah grootman relax, things are going to be fine’.”

Rangers need a winger to take responsibility

As shown by Connor Barron, mentality can sometimes be more important than raw ability when it comes to adjusting to life in a Light Blue shirt.

Mofokeng might be young, but in his debut season as a professional, he earned a first senior international cap, scored in a cup final and led his side to second place in the league leading him to be tipped to be ready to join Rangers.

Being able to take responsibility is something that most of Rangers wingers struggle to do.

Take Vaclav Cerny’s impact in the last two games.

Against Dynamo Kyiv and Motherwell, he made the difference.

Two moments of quality that none of the other wingers can produce on a consistent basis.

As shown by his cup final goal, Mofokeng can be relied upon on the big occasion and will be looking to kick on from his five goals and six assists last season.

With two goals and one assist already in six games, he is on the right track.

Rangers need more quality on the wing to support Cerny and Oscar Cortes, Mofokeng has the ability and mentality needed to be an Ibrox success.
