Rangers pair Kai Kennedy and James Maxwell are loan targets for Championship Partick Thistle – and could be used a makeweight in any Cameron Cooper deal.
Rangers are preparing a swoop for Scotland U17 international Cameron Cooper amid news Rory Wilson will leave the Academy.
This is according to the Daily Record, who believe the Ibrox club are trying to strike a compensation deal with Partick Thistle surrounding the forward.
But this could be offset by potential loan moves for Kai Kennedy and James Maxwell who are widely considered amongst the brightest prospects in the Ibrox Academy.
Kennedy, 20, was once the brightest talent at Rangers and the Gers reportedly faced stiff competition to keep him at Ibrox.
There were links to the likes of Man City and Bayern in the Scottish press but Rangers managed to secure the kid’s future despite grumbles from the likes of Steven Gerrard.
Still regarded as a major talent, Kai signed a new two-year extension to that deal in January and is contracted to Ibrox until 2023 [Rangers].
The youngster is well versed in the Championship having spent time on loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Raith Rovers, Dunfermline Athletic and Hamilton.

James Maxwell is another Rangers youngster who could potentially be used as part of any Cameroon Cooper deal with Partick Thistle.
An exciting young left-back prospect, the 20-year-old Scotland youth international remains a Rangers player despite reported interest from Leeds United.
Impressing on loan with Championship Ayr United last season, James Maxwell scored six goals in the division and is contracted to Ibrox until the summer of 2022.
Another who has solid experience in the lower leagues, James Maxwell has also turned out for Queen of the South on loan from Rangers.
Cameron Cooper is one of the brightest talents in the Partick Thistle Academy and Rangers will be looking at various cost effective options to bring him to the club.
