Rangers star “very happy” at Ibrox as Gers sent £40m FC Porto reminder

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos claims he is “very happy” at Ibrox – as a near £40m Premier League bid for Luis Diaz at FC Porto fires a reminder of just how quickly things can change.

Gers fans everywhere can see a marked improvement in the Colombian striker’s approach since Giovanni van Bronckhorst came in through the door and the December POTM is testament to that.

Morelos has netted six and laid on another two in nine games under the Dutchman and as a result is back in the Colombia set-up.

Watford Hiring Roy Hodgson Is A Joke.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, the Gers striker has reiterated his happiness in Glasgow and has set his sights on Champions League qualification.

“I’m very happy at Rangers,” said Morelos.

“I was named Player of the Month in December, I’ve been scoring goals and I feel good physically. I’m just thinking about scoring more goals and God will decide what happens in the future.

“I’ll keep working hard and fighting. I’m also in the Colombia squad now, so I hope to stay there – we’ll see how it goes. I hope it all goes as well as possible. Right now I’m fully focused on Rangers.

“I feel very happy in Glasgow, as do my family. My daughter is really settled here, I feel very pleased. Rangers really welcomed me when I joined, as did the fans, so I feel really happy here.

“Playing in the Champions League is a source of motivation for me. We’re going to fight for that.

“My teammates and I are all very positive, that goes for the coaching staff as well. We have a lead at the moment, but we have to perform on the pitch.

“We play for all three points, which are so important, so we want to keep picking up points and stay top of the table to achieve our target which is to win the league and qualify for the Champions League if possible.”

Morelos happy at Rangers as Spurs Luis Diaz move sends FC Porto reminder

With that upturn in form comes potential January suitors and FC Porto could be about to bank more than £40m on Colombian countryman Luis Diaz from Premier League Spurs.

Reports suggest Tottenham will need to up their opening £37.6m bid [Guardian] for the 25-year-old winger but if the cash starts to roll in at Estadio do Dragoes nerves may start to jangle at Ibrox.

FC Porto have been extensively linked to Alfredo Morelos throughout his career and the Portuguese club were the name most attached to the forward in the summer.

As Giovanni van Bronckhorst talked about the potential of anything happening in last few days of the transfer window, Rangers fans may have one eye on the situation with Luis Diaz and Porto.

If Porto can recoup the £66m release clause in the Colombian winger’s contract, attention will turn to how they spend the money with Alfredo Morelos a name perenially linked with the Portuguese outfit.

Whilst there has no fresh links between the two this month, Rangers will be aware of Alfredo Morelos’ contract situation at Ibrox and the potential for any fresh bids.

The Colombian is one of a number of players entering the final stages of their current deals with Rangers needing to sign them up or ship them out in the coming windows.
