Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara has been tipped to soften the blow should Southampton midfielder James Ward Prowse leave the south coast club amid links to the likes of Liverpool.

Give Me Sport journalist Dean Jones has tipped Finnish international Glen Kamara to plug the gap left by his England counterpart, who has been linked with a £50m move to Anfield [Daily Mail].

The report also makes mention of several suitors for Rangers star Glen Kamara, with Southampton reportedly facing stiff competition for the £4m-rated 27-year-old.

The report mentions links to the likes of Besiktas and Galatasaray in Turkey, whilst interest from newly promoted Sheffield United as well as from Italy and France is also quoted.

Glen Kamara tipped as Southampton solution

Southampton are preparing for a substantial summer of downsizing following their Premier League relegation and according to Jones, should James Ward Prowse leave St Mary’s then Glen Kamara can soften the blow.

The journalist also mentions the Saints’ Belgian U21 international midfielder Romeo Lavia, who is another high value Southampton midfielder facing an uncertain summer.

“I haven’t heard too much about this one,” said Jones.

“But I do think on the face of it, Glen Kamara could be a good signing for Southampton and with James Ward-Prowse going, if they’re going to lose Lavia, if they’re going to lose some figures like that from the dressing room. Kamara ticks a lot of boxes.

“I think he could be a real asset to them as they look to bounce back to the Premier League.”

Former Arsenal academy graduate Glen Kamara has been an important player for Rangers ever since joining the club in the January of 2019.

Contracted to Ibrox until 2025, Michael Beale has been open about the player’s situation and hinted the club would seriously consider selling the 50-times capped Finnish international this summer.

But this talk of £4m will be a source of great frustration to Rangers fans, who will feel Glen Kamara is worth more than this to Southampton or whoever makes a permanent move to sign him.
