Rangers are understood to be ramping up their pursuit to secure the services of a replacement for Nasser Djiga.

While Danny Rohl would want Djiga at Ibrox next season, the Burkina Faso international is unlikely to return.

Wolves, who have been relegated to the Championship, will likely offer him first-team chances for the 2026/27 campaign.

Rangers set to launch £3m bid for Akpe Victory

According to Sportsboom, the Light Blues are ready to make a move for Akpe Victory and are prepared to send a £3m offer to Hungarian club Zalaegerszegi to secure his services.

Rangers emerged as favourites to sign Victory, and are now ready to take their interest to the next level by putting their money where their mouths are.

However, they will need to act fast as they are not the only side keen on signing the 19-year-old centre-back.

Is Danny Rohl’s treatment of James Tavernier a sackable offence?

He did not start Tavernier in his final Ibrox game…

It’s understood that Benfica, FC Basel and Viktoria Plzen have also entered the race to sign Victory.

Plzen even tabled a bid to sign the towering 6ft 5in centre-back, but their offer was far short of Zalaegerszegi’s valuation.

In total, there are at least six clubs keen on signing the 19-year-old, so the Hungarian side are bracing themselves for bids.

Why Victory is being targeted to replace Nasser Djiga

Victory is dominant in the air due to his height advantage and is known to be exceptional at winning headers, clearing crosses, and being a threat from set pieces.

Despite his height, he is deceptively fast and is capable of covering a lot of ground, which will allow Danny Rohl to play a high line.

He has shown that he can adapt to life at a new club pretty quickly, so the Gers can expect him to hit the ground running in Scotland.

It took Djiga a while to get used to the Premiership, and that may not be a concern for Victory.

Also, signing him permanently would be beneficial as he could be moulded to play the Rangers way and if his valuation does rise in the coming years, the Gers hierarchy could look to make a 10x profit on him.
