Rangers have begun their plans for the summer transfer window after a disappointing end to the 2025/26 season.

The Light Blues went into the split with the Scottish Premiership title within reach and in their hands.

However, they lost four games in a row for the first time since 1983, and there remain more questions than answers surrounding Danny Rohl.

Is Danny Rohl’s treatment of James Tavernier a sackable offence?

Rangers move ahead of Benfica in race to sign Akpe Victory

Give Me Sport’s Ben Jacobs reported on 15 May that the Gers are keen on securing the services of Zalaegerszegi defender Akpe Victory.

He claimed that Benfica are also keen on securing the 19-year-old’s services, who could cost £4.3m this summer.

All Nigeria Soccer reported that Rangers have now moved ahead of the Portuguese side to sign the Nigerian centre-back.

The Ibrox outfit are also close to making an offer and hold a stronger position than Benfica to secure his services.

There are other clubs interested in signing Victory as well, with him liked by German, Spanish and French teams.

Rangers have also held talks to sign the teenager, and he could become their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Why does Danny Rohl want to bring Victory to Ibrox?

While Rohl would want to strengthen his playing eleven, he knows that the club would not want to pass up on the opportunity to sign high-potential players.

By signing Victory, not only will Rangers be bringing a regular starter to the club, but someone who, like Emmanuel Fernandez, could see his valuation drastically rise after a season at Ibrox.

Standing at 6ft 5in. tall, the teenage defender is imperious in the air and will be useful from dead-ball situations in both boxes.

The Gers have struggled to properly defend corners this season, and that issue could be resolved by signing him.

The fact that Benfica and other European clubs are also keen shows just how highly-rated he is, and it is important that the Light Blues move quickly to sign him.
