Rangers have officially entered talks to completely reshape their goalkeeping department ahead of the upcoming Premiership season.

According to an exclusive broadcast report from Sky Sports, the Ibrox club have formally established a clear four-man shortlist between the sticks.

The most high-profile name actively under consideration by the Rangers board is highly-rated Manchester United youngster Radek Vitek.

The towering 22-year-old goalkeeper is expected to leave Old Trafford permanently this summer in search of guaranteed first-team minutes.

Vitek is coming off an impressive individual season on loan at Bristol City, where he commanded praise after keeping 12 clean sheets in 41 Championship appearances.

Jack Butland swap deal on cards

While Vitek represents a massive long-term target, Rangers are locked in active negotiations with Hull City over a spectacular player-plus-cash trade deal.

The Glasgow giants are currently discussing the acquisition of 26-year-old Croatian goalkeeper Ivor Pandur from the Tigers.

In a developmental twist, the proposed deal could see Rangers’ current number one, Jack Butland, move in the opposite direction back to England.

Butland has been an important figure since arriving in Govan in 2023, racking up over 150 appearances as a senior leader in the dressing room.

However, there have been concerns about the 33-year-old’s reliability between the sticks in recent months.

Sebastiano Desplanches and Pierce Charles also shortlisted

Derek McInnes and the Rangers recruitment staff are clearly evaluating all possibilities, with two further names added to the primary contingency list.

Rangers have registered an exploratory interest in Palermo’s highly-touted Italian shot-stopper Sebastiano Desplanches.

Completing the structural four-man shortlist is Sheffield Wednesday’s 20-year-old rising starlet Pierce Charles.

With Butland potentially sacrificed to unlock the market, the coming weeks will determine which of these four goalkeepers inherits the gloves at Ibrox.
