Rangers and Leicester City have both registered an interest in Sheffield United attacker Ryan One, according to a transfer update from Ben Jacobs.

The Scotland Under-21 international is quickly on the rise after netting five goals in 16 League One games on loan at Lincoln City last season.

One’s rise has prompted both the Ibrox giants and the Foxes to closely monitor his situation ahead of the 2026-27 season, as per Jacobs.

A left-footed weapon: Why Ryan One is in demand

One originally made his breakthrough north of the border with Hamilton Academical, unexpectedly becoming a first-team regular at just 16 years old before earning a high-profile move to Sheffield United in September 2023.

What makes the Scotland youth star such a coveted asset is his tactical versatility as a left-footed forward, which is a profile Rangers have been looking at this summer.

He possesses the physical frame to operate as a traditional focal point up front, yet his natural left-footedness allows him to drift out wide and cause havoc cutting in from either wing.

His developmental path since moving south has been exceptional:

Standing as a towering physical presence who is equally adept technically, One’s unique left-sided profile makes him the ideal attacking target for Derek McInnes‘ tactical rebuild.

Transfer stumbling block for Rangers

While the interest from Rangers and Leicester is genuine, pry-away tactics will not be easy.

Sheffield United are fully aware of the jewl they have on their hands. In August 2024, the Bramall Lane board moved swiftly to tie One down to a long-term contract running until June 2029.

Because of this long-term security, the Blades are under absolutely no financial pressure to sell and will demand a premium package to let the left-footed asset leave this summer.

Whether Rangers or Leicester are willing to table the kind of offer required to text Sheffield United’s resolve remains to be seen.
