There is little doubt about Rangers adding a new striker in the January transfer window, even if Danilo recovers quickly, Philippe Clement is still short of numbers in attack and has seen players like Kevin van Veen mentioned.
The Gers boss can’t rely on Kemar Roofe with no end to his injury problems in sight and he will be looking to add more depth in his squad to cover Cyriel Dessers and the Brazilian when he returns.
One player who won’t be joining Rangers is 6ft 3 inch powerhouse Kevin van Veen who, after being linked with a move by a Dutch reporter, has swiftly been ruled out by the club via various fan media outlets.

Rangers interest in Kevin van Veen rubbished
The 32-year old had a good season in his last year at Motherwell but it is an outlier in a career that is the very definition of one belonging to a journeyman.
He would need to be playing every week to rediscover the form from his spell at Fir Park but, if Philippe Clement is to be given a chance of winning the Scottish Premiership, then he will need significantly better.
Dessers has started to find the back of the net more regularly and, if it hadn’t been for a dodgy ruler, would have added to his account against Motherwell on Christmas Eve.
Danilo offers something different to the Nigeria international with more pace and movement but there is no longer a clear front runner in terms of who is first choice, which can only be a good thing for Clement.
Kevin van Veen, who is available for transfer, scored some good goals during his time in the SPFL, including 29 last season, but he wouldn’t be afforded the same space by opposition defenders for Rangers.
He would be a good target man for Borna Barisic and James Tavernier but since Philippe Clement arrived, we have been scoring different types of goals.
There is nothing wrong with signing the odd stop-gap player during an injury crisis but they have to be of the right standard and fit in with the system and style of play.
Kevin van Veen, as rightly identified by the club, doesn’t.
Transfer silly season is upon us, this won’t be the first, or the last, rumour that we will have to contend with.
