In terms of history and prestige, Rangers can compete with the biggest in Europe, however, for wages and transfer fees, the Scottish Premiership simply doesn’t allow for exorbitant spending.

Rangers have already been linked with Serie A players in Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers, at a cool £7m for the pair it makes more sense, two for less than the price of one.
Even if Rangers fans might be seduced by Joel Piroe’s more impressive numbers this season.
This is the issue with having to replace Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos in one window plus upgrade on Fashion Sakala and Rabbi Matondo too.
Rangers need goals but Rangers also need variety and depth in attack, something that is currently in short supply.
The days of Rangers spending £10m on one player might not be too far ahead but, for perspective, Celtic have never spent that on one player and Rangers have only done it once.
The club record £12m spent on Tore Andre Flo likely to stand for some time yet.
For £10m, Rangers would have to be getting a Xavi Simons or a player of that ilk.
One that would be a guaranteed hit, could be sold at a profit and has a proven track record.
Piroe, promising as he is, just isn’t that type of player to a team with our budget.
