Rangers are looking at a reported £8m loss on Ibrox contract rebels Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos after chairman Douglas Park hinted their wages demands were too high at this year’s AGM.
The Gers and namely club sporting director Ross Wilson have come in for intense scrutiny from the support for letting the contracts of both players run down.
Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos have also seen a downturn in form as of late and have not been performing at the levels that earned them the adulation of the Ibrox legions and interest from the likes of Leeds United and Lille respectively.
Both are considered major assets at Ibrox and Rangers could be about to lose them for nothing as they prepare to enter the final six months of their contract.
Rangers in ominous Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos AGM update
Unless Rangers sell both players for knockdown fees in January – something which is likely to have a huge impact on the squad – then they can leave for free when their contracts expire.
Speaking at the Rangers AGM, Ibrox chairman Douglas Park let slip that whilst Rangers want both players to sign new deals, their wages demands might be too unrealistic for the club to deliver.
“The board tried to negotiate and sometimes if the terms are unattainable you have to accept you have done your best,” Park told the Rangers AGM.
Ibrox sporting director Ross Wilson – who was defensive with the line of questioning throughout – also responded to questions about the players not being allowed to leave.
“They’ve not been allowed,” said Wilson.
“Two parties need to commit.

“Ryan and Alfredo are in different situations but there is a willingness for the boys to stay with us from the club.
“Why didn’t they go in the summer? We’ve rejected one offer for both players on the basis the players were of more value and we went on to be league champions in that same season.”
Rangers are looking at a combined £8m loss on both players, with Alfredo Morelos joining from HJK Helsinki for £1m in 2017 and Ryan Kent joining permanently on a £7m deal from Liverpool in 2019.
Meanwhile, Rangers have been linked with a move for a Premier League midfielder.
