Rangers partner reveals Premiership impasse as deadline approaches

Rangers and Hearts have reached a transfer impasse over Scotland international John Souttar as the Ibrox side refuse to budge on their offer for the defender.

That’s according to Rangers media partner Heart & Hand and the platform’s host David Edgar, who was discussing the situation surrounding John Souttar on the popular outlet’s Daily Update [31/01/21].

Available to Patreon subscribers, David Edgar was providing an update around John Souttar as the transfer deadline approaches.

Journalist Jordan Campbell had claimed earlier in the day that Rangers were yet to return with an improved offer for Souttar after they had a second bid turned down earlier in the week.

Now, the two clubs are at an impasse as Rangers refuse to budge on the £300k they reportedly offered last week with Hearts having a decision to make as the hours tick down.

Rangers offer for Hearts star John Souttar “won’t be raised”

“Talks are ongoing, it’s down to Hearts,” said David Edgar.

“The player would like to come, Rangers would like to have him. There is clearly a number that Rangers will not go past for John Souttar.

“It’s up to Hearts to decide if they want to keep him until the end of the season, that that’s worth more than the fee on offer.

“My understanding is that the offer that Rangers have lodged will not be raised.

“I think if the fee that’s being discussed, £300k, that’s more than fair. If you’re going in with £50k, I would understand Hearts saying, go away.

“But for a player who’s going out of contract in six months – when you look at what his value would be if he was in contract – I think that’s a fair fee.

“Given how far clear they are, they’re going to get European football, it wouldn’t surprise me if they just said, look, for the good of the club we’ve got to take this fee.”

Rangers continue to make major moves in the transfer market on deadline day and adding John Souttar to the ranks would be welcomed by Gers supporters.

Polish U21 international Mateusz Zukowski has already been announced by Rangers with midfielder Aaron Ramsey closing in on a shock move from Juventus.

With that move said to be close, one journalist has even shared an image of Aaron Ramsey wearing a Rangers jersey.
