Goal.com reports that Rangers are eyeing a move for Leeds United prospect Kamil Miazek.

The 23-year-old is a goalkeeper from Poland, who is currently down the pecking order at Elland Road, behind the likes of Kiko Casilla and Illan Meslier.

Miazek is yet to make an appearance for the Leeds first-team under Marcelo Bielsa, but he has played at U23 level and has been included in Championship matchday squads on 11 occasions this season [Transfermarkt].

The Goal.com report suggests that the Gers failed to sign fellow Polish keeper, Radoslaw Majecki, who is said to be on his way to Monaco, hence why attentions have turned to Miazek.

The former Feyenoord Academy player is out of contract in the summer, a situation which has allowed Rangers to ‘open talks’ as he seeks to ‘escape’ his status a third-choice at Leeds.

Verdict

It’s interesting that the day after Rangers-linked [Sheffield StarCameron Dawson signed a new deal at Sheffield Wednesday, a report has emerged linking the club with another stopper.

Miazek is clearly unproven in British football and at senior level in general, due to his lack of playing time.

However, he’s a former Poland U19 international and standing at a colossal 6ft 4″, we know he would offer a big physical presence.

It seems an effort is being made to ensure there is no shortage of options between the sticks for next season, with both Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick expected to leave the club at the expiration of their contracts in the summer.

Rangers have already tied Allan McGregor and Andy Firth down to new deals, while Robby McCrorie is contracted until 2022.
