Transfer rumours are beginning to heat up for Rangers as Thierry Small becomes the latest name linked with a move to Ibrox.
The likes of Jack Butland, Jose Cifuentes and Dujon Sterling have already been mentioned as targets for Michael Beale this summer.
Now – according to Wayne Vasey of Football Insider – Thierry Small is wanted by Rangers.
Rangers could sign new Alphonso Davies in Thierry Small
Well, there is no denying that the 18-year-old is a top talent.
Small left Everton to join Southampton back in August 2021 in search of regular first-team football.
That has not exactly gone to plan for the teenager as he finds himself on loan at St Mirren, although Rangers fans should still be excited by the rumour, simply because of who the left-back has been compared to.
As mentioned in a story by the Daily Mail back in November 2020, Small is said to play like Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies, a player who is valued at €80m (£70m) by the CIES Football Observatory.

The Canada international is a UEFA Champions League winner, and even finished second behind teammate Joshua Kimmich for the UEFA Champions League Defender of the Season award in the 2019/20 campaign.
If Small can become even 30% as good as Davies, he would be a tremendous signing for Rangers.
The Daily Mail specifically mention that Small and Davies are similar due to their “style, pace and marauding runs.”
Beale already has some strong options in his left-back department with Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz to choose from.
However, if the chance to sign a precocious talent in Small does present itself, Rangers would be silly not to take advantage of it.
Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Ibrox, as Rangers seem close to making a couple of signings – according to the Daily Mail, a deal for Butland is all but agreed, to give one example.
