Rangers have missed out on a deal to bring ex-Chelsea kid Emran Soglo to the club’s B team as the attacking midfielder prepares to move to France and old European foes Marseille.

Released by the Stamford Bridge club, Football Scotland claim the 16-year-old was invited to Rangers before being offered a deal to join the club’s B Team.

Tracked by the likes of West Ham and Bayern Munich in the summer of last year, the versatile midfielder is now set to join Jorge Sampaoli’s side instead.

Whilst the report doesn’t give away much else surrounding the deal or Rangers’ reported offer for the player, the move will come as a blow to the Gers who continue to seek out top talents.

The Rangers B team offers youngsters the opportunity to play men’s football and after the adoption of Lowland League football this season there are a series of players at Ibrox who’ve directly benefited.

The likes of Leon King and Alex Lowry have been involved with the first team as of late, whilst Charlie McCann, Tony Weston and Juan Alegria continue to make headlines.

Rangers B appear to complete deal for Johnly Yfeko

Rangers have also moved for ex-Leicester City kid Johnly Yfeko, who appeared to announce himself at Ibrox on Instagram.

The 18-year-old former Foxes left-back was linked to Ibrox earlier last week and appeared to confirm the deal on the social media channel.

Yfeko takes a path increasingly well-travelled for young players from England to Rangers but more specifically Johnly’s situation mirrors that of Calvin Bassey.

Rangers signed ex-Leicester City youth Calvin Bassey after the expiration of his contract last season and the defender has gone on to cement himself as an important member of the first-team squad.

Johnly Yfeko might not be the only left-back set to complete a move to the Rangers B side this week either.

The Gers said to have overcome Brexit issues to pip Premier League clubs to a Euro talent.
