If Rangers signed every player that they were linked with this summer, Philippe Clement would end up having the same sort of problems Dick Advocaat had towards the end of his tenure.
Too many players in his squad and not enough space on a Saturday to fit them all in.
Last season, he ran out of players towards the end of the season which is why Rangers have been looking at a younger profile of player.
Five promising youngsters of varying experience have been presented at the building site that is Ibrox with five emptying their lockers to make room.
One player who won’t be joining Clement’s revolution is Reuell Walters, the versatile Arsenal defender who left the Emirates at the end of his contract.

The 19-year old was highly regarded at Arsenal with Mikel Arteta commenting on the England youth international and two of his colleagues earlier this season:
“Three big prospects.
“We want to keep developing players from our system. They deserve to be here. We want to start to give them some experience because they have the talent to hopefully be very close to us. We will try to give them the opportunity if we can.”
Walters was a regular on the bench under Arteta but never made a senior appearance for the club where he spent his entire development.
Similar to Calvin Bassey, he never went out on loan either so there is an element of the unknown in terms of how he will react to senior football.
It’s not too big a leap to make to say that Walters has something about him though given how close he was to playing for one of the most accomplished sides in Europe.
Rangers can’t sign them all though.
As with Ben Johnson, it looks like Reuell Walters was on a “just in case” watchlist, should James Tavernier be sold when the window opens in Saudi Arabia.

Look how easily Dujon Sterling settled into life at Rangers, in whatever position he was asked to play.
The standards at the top end of the Premier League are so high now that youngsters leaving because they haven’t made the breakthrough has become more common.
Walters has decided that regular first team football at a lower level is better than sitting on a bench at a bigger club after announcing that he has pledged his future to Luton Town.
Relegated from the top flight, despite the usual parachute payments, they won’t be one of the favourites to be promoted this season.
Money and location talk though and it is easy to see why Walters has made this call.
What it does though, is question whether or not Rangers actually put a contract on the table for the talented teen.
