Jamie Barjonas took part in Rangers training on Tuesday despite a deadline day report linking him with a move to the United States [Rangers.co.uk].

Barjonas broke into the Gers first team as a teenager and has made nine competitive appearances for the club, but the most recent of those came way back in December 2017.

Since then, he’s spent time out on loan at Bury, Raith Rovers and Partick Thistle, before returning to the group for the current campaign.

The midfielder has made the matchday squad eight times in all competitions this season but hasn’t received a single minute of playing time, so it was little surprise that with his contract set to expire in the summer, he was linked with a transfer away from Ibrox on deadline day.

The Athletic‘s Jordan Campbell asserted on Monday morning that Barjonas was close to agreeing a permanent switch to Rangers’ partner club Orange County SC.

Yet, it appears that the transfer hasn’t yet taken place, as the Academy graduate was snapped training with the Gers squad ahead of Wednesday night’s fixture against St Johnstone.

At this stage, it’s unclear if a late hiccup led to the deal being scrapped or whether an agreement is in place for Barjonas to see out the rest of the campaign at Ibrox before making his move to the US.

Either way, it looks as though the 22-year-old is available to face the Saints, although he’s unlikely to be involved, given that he’s only made the bench for two Premiership fixtures so far this season.

Coverage of the match will be provided by RangersTV and a pundit is set to make their debut on the platform.
