Rangers media partners Heart & Hand claim the club have told them that they have not bid for Bologna winger and Denmark international Andreas Skov Olsen.
Speaking after reports emerged in Italy suggesting Rangers had launched a £5m bid for the 22-year-old wideman, the Gers are now suggesting those claims are wide of the mark.
But whilst Rangers don’t appear to have made a concrete approach for Andreas Skov Olsen as things stand, Heart & Hand are clear that this could change at any point in the window.
Heart & Hand host David Edgar expanded on the claims whilst speaking alongside popular Rangers blogger Stevie Clifford of Four Lads Had a Dream on the platform’s Daily Update (05/01), available to Patreon subscribers.
“Having spoken to Rangers, they’re saying that no bid (for Andreas Skov Olsen) has been submitted. The reports are not true,” said David Edgar.
“Sampdoria are the club who’re said to have the strongest interest this window and it sounds to me like Bologna might be using us to try and flush out a bid from them.
“No bid” from Rangers for Andreas Skov Olsen
“I would be pleasantly surprised if Rangers were to make a signing at that level this window, I don’t see it myself.
“But what I will say is that Rangers are not ruling anything because later in the window different players will become available, so they’re going to wait and see.
“There is a World Cup coming up and players don’t want to be missing out and someone can come up who at the moment isn’t available then they become available for loan.
“You can’t rule anything out, but all we can do is ask the club and what they said was ‘no, there was no bid for Skov Olsen’.”
Rangers have been extensively linked to the former FC Nordsjælland winger throughout his career but as things stand the Gers have not moved for Andreas Skov Olsen, contrary to reports.
However, in other transfer news Rangers are said to be closing in on a new Ibrox signing as the Gers bolster their team with a USA international.
