Rangers have been linked with a move for Aris forward Luis Palma as Michael Beale looks to add firepower to his front line.

The Honduras international is the first big money rumour with a fee of around £4m said to be the figure needed to bring him to Ibrox.

Heart and Hand’s David Edgar has revealed that he believes the reports are accurate and that Rangers are looking to add Luis Palma to the attack.

Speaking on the Daily Update for Monday the 15th of May, Edgar said of the speculation linking the 23-year old:

“I do think the interest is real in Palma.

“I do think there is something is there.

“As I’ve mentioned before my belief and understanding is that Rangers are going to spend money this summer and if there is a big signing of £5m and upwards, it will be a forward player because you need to.

“That’s the area that we are weakest in.”

Palma, with 13 goals and eight assists so far this season, is exactly the sort of player Michael Beale needs.

At least, an immediate upgrade on Scott Wright, Palma also has better numbers than any of our other wingers.

If Rangers do spend the sort of money mentioned, it shows that Luis Palma is high up on Beale’s list of wanted players.

It is a summer where the Gers gaffer needs to be backed and bringing in his top targets will be key to clawing back the gap at the top of the league and making us competitive in Europe again.

Edgar is a go-to source for Rangers fans because the club has allowed him in the past to rule out certain speculation, if there was no truth in the rumour, it would have been clear by now and the Luis Palma story would be put to bed.

Free transfers are clever business if you get the right players but they don’t inspire as much as a multi-million pound move for a player that has clearly been identified as a future star.
