Ryan Kent moving to Fenerbahce isn’t good news for Rangers with Burnley linked to the Light Blues winger and Michael Beale target Luis Palma.
Should the 26-year old Ger choose to go to Turkey it means that we could be in a straight fight with a club that has just opened the door to Premier League riches.
Burnley are clearly after a left winger and, if they don’t get Ryan Kent, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that Luis Palma will become more important to them.
Ironically, there seems to have been a threeway battle for both Kent and Palma with Rangers, Burnley and Fenerbahce all chasing the same players.
Kent appears to have chosen the Super Lig as his next destination which, although their fans are equally as passionate, it isn’t quite as intense as the goldfish bowl of Glasgow.
TV reporter and journalist Ertan Suzgun, with 225k followers on Twitter, has claimed that Kent has already agreed terms with Fener.
The question is now, who will win the fight for Luis Palma?
Rangers and Burnley battle for Luis Palma
With Fenerbahce out of the race, it becomes a straight choice between wages and a better league or the chance to win trophies and play in the Champions League.
Burnley, under Vincent Kompany, have been transformed over this season but they still play at Turf Moor and will still be restricted in terms of wages.
As a well run club, they will continue to spend within their means.
Palma would have the chance to be the main man at Rangers and replace a player who so often threatened more than he produced.
One outstanding campaign in five years is not good enough to justify the salary Kent will likely be wanting.
It wouldn’t be hard for Palma to become an instant hero in front of 50,000 fans every other week if he continues his scoring rate.
For a reported £4m, Rangers won’t struggle to match Burnley in terms of the transfer fee so a lot will depend on wages.
Currently on £3,000 per week according to Salary Sport, Rangers shouldn’t have any problems meeting the demands for the 22-year old either.
This time last year, Burnley were heading to the Championship and Rangers had just seen off RB Leipzig in the Europa League semi-final.
All Michael Beale needs to do is show Palma the scenes at the final whistle after beating Leipzig and it’ll be the easiest negotations of the summer.
