Rangers continue to be linked with left backs and may still have a glimmer of hope over signing Josh Doig after he missed out on joining Marseille.
Borna Barisic is out of contract this summer and it’s unclear whether the Croatian will be staying.
Ridvan Yilmaz continues to be linked away from Ibrox too, meaning we may see Rangers targeting more than one left back in 2024.
One name mentioned earlier in the January transfer window was Hellas Verona left back Josh Doig with Italian media speculating on a move to Ibrox.
The former Hibernian ace is probably at the more expensive end of Rangers’ budget but we did ponder whether an exchange could take place.
Verona are keen on Rangers left back Yilmaz and that could pave the way for Doig to head to Ibrox in exchange – and the door may still be open.
Marseille confirm new left back after missing out on Josh Doig
French side Marseille were so keen to sign Doig and personal terms had been agreed with the Verona ace.
However, Marseille seemingly felt that they were being messed around after a £4.3million offer with Verona seemingly delaying and delaying a decision.
The transfer has collapsed and Marseille have now confirmed the signing of a new left back with Ulisses Garcia arriving from Swiss side Young Boys.

The 28-year-old has racked up nearly 150 appearances for Young Boys but now heads to France with ex-Rangers man Gennaro Gattuso missing out on Doig.
With Marseille out of the picture, Rangers may now have a chance to land Doig – but the cash will be the problem.
Rangers won’t spend massively in this transfer window, especially having backed Michael Beale with a number of multi-million-pound signings over the summer.
The only hope here is that Rangers can tempt Verona into a deal by sending Yilmaz in exchange, bringing the cash value down in the process.
A move would also rely on Doig fancying a return to Scotland having spent the last 18 months in Italy.
If there is even a glimmer of hope that Doig can be brought to Ibrox, then Rangers need to make the move and potentially lock down the 21-year-old as a long-term left back isolation for years to come.
