Rangers linked with summer move for international Chelsea star – report

Rangers have been linked with a summer move for Scotland international and Chelsea star Billy Gilmour.

The talented 20-year-old midfielder came through the youth ranks at Ibrox but never played for the club before signing on at the Premier League side.

Gilmour’s rise through the Chelsea ranks has been mightily impressive and he has spent the season on loan at Norwich City.

According to 90min, Billy Gilmour is likely to be shipped out on loan again next season as he has not done enough to justify a spot in a competitive Chelsea midfield.

They claim that whether Billy Gilmour will be with the Chelsea squad next season depends on who else leaves with another loan move the most likely outcome.

They go on to cite Rangers as a “possible destination” alongside Fulham and Bournemouth.

Rangers consistently linked to Chelsea talent Billy Gilmour

Rangers were repeatedly linked with a loan move for Billy Gilmour at the beginning of the season but Chelsea reportedly chose Norwich due to Thomas Tuchel’s relationship with then Canaries manager Daniel Farke.

But the season did not go as planned for Norwich City who’ve toiled in the English top tier and now look destined to go down.

Daniel Farke would eventually lose his job due to poor results with Billy Gilmour at this point appearing to be frozen out by the German.

This led to reports in January that Billy Gilmour could be sent back to Chelsea and his loan situation reassessed.

But after the appointment of Dean Smith the midfielder has found his way back into the side and he is expected to be involved in the Premier League run-in.

Many Rangers fans would love to see the return of Billy Gilmour to Rangers and witness the youngster strutting his stuff around Ibrox Park.

Meanwhile, a leading Rangers first-teamer is being linked with a move to the Premier League as his contract ticks down at Ibrox.
