Teeside Live report that Rangers are interested in signing Stewart Downing.
Downing has been at Middlesbrough since 2015, but his deal there is set to expire in the summer.

If he starts another game for the Championship side, it would automatically trigger a one-year contract extension.
Therefore, he’s being used exclusively as a substitute, by Tony Pulis.
Another old pal of Gerrard…
Downing shared both Liverpool and England dressing rooms with Gerrard over what, in all fairness, has been an impressive career.

During that time in the English top flight, he racked up 37 goals and 59 assists.
That’s all very well, but the glaring issue here is that he turns 35 in the summer.
Do the Gers really need another old hand?
It would be a classic move to swoop for a player clearly no longer wanted at his club.
Rangers have to start aiming higher, though.

Surely this one won’t come to fruition…
