Rangers have been linked with a renewed move for Coventry City star and Brazilian-born Dutch midfielder Gustavo Hamer, according to a report.
The Gers were extensively linked to the 24-year-old last season when the Press Association claimed that Rangers were looking at the ex-PEC Zwolle star in January 2021.

However club insiders Heart & Hand had it confirmed by Rangers that Gustavo Hamer was not a player the Gers were looking at during the time of the reports.
“I can tell you that this [the link to Hamer] isn’t true,” said Heart & Hand host David Edgar [Daily Update [14/01/21]].
“Rangers are not interested in Gustavo Hamer, he is not a player who is currently on their radar.”
There was more confusion in the summer surrounding Hamer, when reports from a popular EFL transfer account claimed Rangers were closing in on a £4m move.
Obviously, this never materialised, and since then links between Rangers, Gustavo Hamer and Coventry City have gone cold – until now.
Rangers linked to Coventry City midfielder Gustavo Hamer
According to Football League World, Rangers are one of a number of clubs monitoring the midfielder’s situation ahead of next season.
Old Firm rivals Celtic have also been mooted, whilst current Premier League sides Brentford, Leeds United, and Norwich City are also mentioned.
Since joining Coventry City in 2020 from Eredivisie side Zwolle, Gustavo Hamer has gone on to cement himself as a key player in the side, making 73 appearances and becoming a fixture in the Sky Blues’ midfield.
Scoring twice and assisting a further six goals in 27 Championship appearances for Mark Robins’ side this season, Hamer has helped Coventry into the upper half of the table.

But now in the final 18 months of his contract, Coventry face a dilemma over whether or not to cash in on the player this summer if they cannot get him to commit to a new deal.
With Rangers one of the names most prominently linked to Gustavo Hamer, according to the Coventry chief executive Dave Boddy, a new contract offer is in the pipeline [Coventry Telegraph].
Meanwhile, one player who will be joining Rangers this summer has just netted a sweet volley for his current side as Ibrox pressure begins to mount.
