Rangers have reportedly met Coventry City’s valuation for midfielder Gustavo Hamer but the Gers will face competition for his signature from now relegated West Brom.
The Brazilian midfielder has been linked to Rangers periodically over the season with EFL Hub – a Twitter account priding itself on exclusive transfer news with close to 15k followers – claiming the Gers have met a valuation, somewhere in the region of £4m.
This follows on from an earlier tweet a little over a week ago which claimed the Gers were progressing with “positive talks” regarding the Sky Blues midfielder.
A defensive midfielder who only joined Coventry last summer, the Ricoh Arena club reportedly spent £1m to bring the player to England from PEC Zwolle in Holland [Coventry Telegraph].
These reports also come despite the fact Rangers have previously rubbished the links to the midfielders via club insiders.
Back in January, Heart & Hand claimed that Rangers were “not interested” in the player after he was linked by the Press Association.
“I can tell you that this [the link to Hamer] isn’t true,” said Heart & Hand host David Edgar on the Daily Update [14/01/21].
“Rangers are not interested in Gustavo Hamer, he is not a player who is currently on their radar.”
However, Rangers may well have changed their mind heading into this transfer window but it remains to be seen if EFL Hub has called this move right.

The Ibrox club was linked to Hamer alongside Norwich, Brentford and Brighton as recently as May by Football League World.
Rangers have already announced the pre-contract signing of KV Oostende striker Fashion Sakala ahead of next season with fans already adopting a pop classic for the striker.
