Rangers were linked with a host of players when Michael Beale first took over as Rangers manager, Everton midfielder Tom Davies being one of them.
The former England Under-21 international is well known to the manager, however, only Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin arrived.
At 24-years old, the Rangers-linked midfielder still has plenty of time on his side and Tom Davies is now out of contract after deciding to turn down the offer of a new deal, as revealed by Everton.

Rangers interest in Tom Davies was short lived
In January, Tom Davies might have been considered, even a couple of months ago, there just isn’t the need for him in Michael Beale’s Rangers squad for him now.
The Gers gaffer, along with Todd Cantwell, called Davies a “really good player” and spoke highly of the lifelong Evertonian.
He is experienced at the top level but an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in 2021 has seen a once first-team regular have his minutes severely restricted.
When Sean Dyche took over as Everton boss, his remit was simple.
By the skin of their teeth, the Toffees survived the drop but didn’t want to make any decisions on player contracts until their future was secured.
Davies was one of these players despite being one that you would expect to have been offered new terms.

A contract was put in front of him but he has decided to move on and start afresh.
Rangers would probably be a good fit for Tom Davies at the base of midfield but with Raskin in place, Jose Cifuentes close to signing and Ryan Jack extending his deal, there simply isn’t space for him at Ibrox.
Michael Beale needs money for a winger, a striker and, probably, for another centre-half.
He doesn’t need it for a midfielder who has not long suffered a serious injury, in a position that we are already well catered for.
A free agent Premier League player would also be wanting Premier League wages.
