Rangers linked Liverpool midfielder Pedro Chirivella is set to have a medical with Ligue 1 side Nantes this week, according to 20 minutes.
The 23-year-old turned out six times for Liverpool in cup competitions this season and Goal.com recently reported that the Anfield club had offered him a new five-year deal amid interest from the Gers.

However, it seems Nantes are in pole position to secure his signature, with the Spaniard due in France as early as Wednesday to undergo assessments.
It’s said that the French club, who finished the curtailed 2019/20 campaign in 13th position, are looking to strengthen in a number of positions when the transfer window officially opens in June.

Verdict
Chirivella is a technically strong midfielder who impressed during his handful of outings for Liverpool this season and the fact that he’s available for free makes him a low-risk signing.
However, as he’s down the pecking order at Anfield, the only real first-team experience he has picked up outside of cup competitions has been on loan at Dutch clubs Go Ahead Eagles and Willem II.
Perhaps, as a result, he would be ill-prepared for the demands at Ibrox. As we’ve seen over the last two seasons with Ovie Ejaria and Sheyi Ojo, it’s not easy for young players to move from Liverpool and make an impact.
The Gers have already been linked with several other midfielders, though, including Lewis Ferguson of Aberdeen [Scottish Sun], so even if Chirivella ends up elsewhere, Gerrard may still strengthen in the engine room.
