Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts are set to secure a shock loan deal for Liverpool international and routinely Rangers-linked Ben Woodburn.
The young Welsh forward has reportedly agreed an initial six-month loan move with the Jambos in what will be considered a sizeable coup by the Gorgie club.
According to the Edinburgh Evening News, the 21-year-old’s loan move could be extended until the end of the season if all parties are happy with the arrangement.
The versatile attacker can play on either flank or in the traditional number 10 position and is heading north with the intention of getting more game time.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is obviously a Liverpool legend and as a result the Gers have previously recruited loan deals from the Reds.
Ryan Kent stands as the most prominent example but the likes of Sheyi Ojo and Ovie Ejaria are other examples of the Ibrox side utilising their gaffer’s contacts.
Woodburn is another name who has been routinely linked to Ibrox with the most prominent links appearing in the Scottish Sun in January 2019.
These links came after a loan move to Sheffield United was cut short with the same report claiming Rangers were interested in the summer of 2018.
Woodburn is Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer after netting as a 17-year-old, beating Michael Owen’s record by 98 days with an EFL Cup strike v Leeds in 2016.

The attacker is also the second youngest Welsh international scorer of all time – behind none other than Gareth Bale – after coming on as a sub and netting the winner in a 1-0 win over Austria in 2017.
Woodburn has gone on to make ten caps for the Welsh national side, scoring two goals and Hearts fans will be delighted to secure the services of such an exciting young player.
Similarly, a ex-Man City prospect who had a Gers medical in Gerrard’s first season is now an in-demand free agent.
