Rangers-linked Northern Ireland international Ciaron Brown has officially joined Oxford United on loan from Cardiff City until the end of the season.
Brown has been at Cardiff since 2018 but had two loan spells at Livingston in recent seasons, during which he played against the Gers.

It seems he made an impression then, as in September, GiveMeSport reported that the Gers were monitoring his situation with the Bluebirds, with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.
Brown can play at centre-back and left-back, so he could provide cover in more than one area for Gio van Bronckhorst.
However, with Rangers’ defensive injury woes clearing up, it appears that no approach was made during the January transfer window.
Brown did make a deadline day loan move, though.
Rangers-linked Brown joins Oxford from Cardiff
He’s been out of favour at Cardiff for a number of months but first-team football beckons again as he’s dropped down from the EFL Championship to League One to join Oxford United.
The deal is a straight loan until the end of the season, at which point he could become a free agent.
“I’m looking forward to it,” said Brown when the deal was confirmed on Monday night around an hour before the window closed [OUFC.co.uk].
“Oxford are doing really well in the league and I spoke to Gavin Whyte and to Curtis Nelson and they had nothing but good things to say about the club and the fans so I am really excited to be part of that.”
It remains to be seen whether or not Rangers will make a move for Brown in the summer, but given that two of the Gers’ four January signings came from Man United and Juventus, the club have shown their ability to attract much higher-profile players.
Meanwhile, one of Rangers’ new recruits posted a two-word tweet after sealing his move to Ibrox.
