New Rangers signing Mateusz Zukowski has posted a two-word tweet after his move from Lechia Gdansk was completed on deadline day.

Gio van Bronckhorst has been light on options at right-back since the Gers received a club-record fee from Everton for Nathan Patterson in early January.

The only remaining out-and-out right-back was James Tavernier, who is the skipper and undoubtedly one of the best players in the squad.

Yet, it still would have been a big risk to go into the second half of the season with little in the way of cover, even though James Sands is capable of filling in there.

Therefore, plenty of supporters were delighted when the club announced the signing of Zukowski on Monday afternoon, even though the vast majority won’t have seen him in action before.

Ross Wilson described him as a player with ‘high potential’ and particularly given the work that the club’s sporting director did later in the day with Aaron Ramsey, most Bears are willing to trust him on this one.

Zukowski spoke highly of Rangers in quotes shared by the club’s website when the deal was announced and then in the evening, he took to his personal Twitter account to post a message.

He captioned a photo of him posing on the club badge with a home shirt: “New chapter,” before tagging Rangers and adding tick and signing emojis.

The tweet went down well with supporters, racking up over 17k likes despite the fact that he has less than 10k followers.

When his three-and-a-half-year deal was announced, it was stated that it was ‘subject to the successful application for a work permit’, so fans will be hoping that’s sorted out sooner rather than later.

With 50 first-team appearances for Lechia to his name, he’s relatively experienced for a 20-year-old.

He hasn’t played for a month and a half, though, so it may take him a while to get back to full fitness.

Meanwhile, two English clubs were reportedly interested in a Rangers player on deadline day but he still stayed put at Ibrox.
