Rangers need to be cleverer with their transfer budget, minimise risk and get to the front of the queue for any Bosman deals that could benefit Philippe Clement.

Players who are capable of playing more than one position are also beneficial in terms of cutting the wage bill whilst maintaining a squad capable of bringing silverware back to Ibrox

The manager inherited a mess that won’t be fixed overnight, especially considering the off-field issues too, but former Rangers target Bright Osayi-Samuel could be on the move again.

Bright Osayi-Samuel available for Rangers reconsideration

Out of contract in the summer of 2025, the versatile right-sided 26-year old has spent the last three seasons in Turkey after Fenerbahce jumped first with the then QPR winger’s deal ticking down.

Rangers hesitated and baulked at the previous asking price of £5m, however, when it became clear that the Championship outfit wanted to avoid losing him for nothing, a bid should have been made.

Now making his name as an attacking right-back, Star claim that Galatasaray are leading the chase for Osayi-Samuel’s signature who is “preparing to leave” their Super Lig rivals.

For Rangers, he could play on either wing or at right-back, especially in domestic football when attacking output is more important than defensive fortitude.

How highly rated is Osayi-Samuel?

In the summer, Rangers were said to be “keen” on rekindling their interest in Osayi-Samuel and, given his contract status, it isn’t a surprise.

His form for Fener also makes him an attractive proposition with former Turkey international Guvenc Karter saying:

“If Osayi-Samuel pushes himself harder, he can play for a club like Barcelona or Real Madrid.”

The Nigeria international isn’t quite at that level just yet, however, he has proven that he would be a no-risk signing and the type of experience that would strengthen Clement’s options.

Competition for quality Bosman deals is always fierce and Rangers would be up against it if they were to target Osayi-Samuel again.

There will always be players who, once they have been scouted, should be continuously watched to assess whether or not they should be considered in the future.

Osayi-Samuel has shown that his name should still be on a list in Nils Koppen’s office.
