Rangers are reportedly monitoring the situation concerning QPR winger Bright Osayi-Samuel with Old Firm rivals Celtic also in the running.

According to the Daily Mail [via Scottish Sun], Osayi-Samuel is a transfer “priority” for the out-of-form Celtic Park side whilst Rangers are closely overseeing the situation with the player out of contract in the summer.

Rangers were also heavily linked with the 22-year-old in the summer by Football Insider, who rated the winger back then as a £5m player.

Whilst Celtic might be eager to make their move for the player in January, could the Rangers connection at Loftus Road play a role in convincing Osayi-Samuel to move to Ibrox?

Former Rangers boss Mark Warburton is the Rs manager whilst the likes of ex-Gers captain Lee Wallace and Academy keeper Liam Kelly play for the club.

There’s no way QPR would want to lose Osayi-Samuel – who has already made over 100 appearances for the club – but those three surely wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Rangers if he does.

Mark Warburton has previously said contract discussions are at a “stalemate” with all the sounds suggesting Osayi-Samuel could move on [Daily Record].

If the player is to leave the club – Club Brugge in Belgium and Premier League Crystal Palace are also said to be interested – Rangers pose a genuinely strong option.

Competing for titles and trophies runs parallel with potential Champions League qualification and massive, passionate crowds.

Not to mention Samuel would get the chance to work with Steven Gerrard.

With Osayi-Samuel only being 22, he could well follow the likes of Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo in joining the Gers whilst he is young with plenty of time left to play in the Premier League.

The only thing is; Celtic can offer very similar circumstances.

But if the choice was between either Old Firm team, then which of the two are his teammates and manager more likely to recommend?

Osayi-Samuel isn’t the only name being linked with Ibrox ahead of the transfer window as the club reportedly closes in on a deal for a young Colombian striker plying his trade in Finland.
