Rangers have put their money where their mouths are by tabling a £5.1m bid to secure the services of Vaclav Cerny.

Cerny emerged on Rangers’ radar in recent weeks as Derek McInnes is keen on signing a right-winger this summer.

The Czech Republic international spent a stellar campaign on loan at Ibrox back in the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership season, and is not expected to rule out a reunion.

Besiktas reject Rangers’ opening offer for Vaclav Cerny

Besiktas have turned down the Gers’ opening bid for Vaclav Cerny, which was in the region of £5.1m.

That is according to Turkish reporter Onur Tascioglou, who works for the radio station Beyaz Futbol, with nearly 375,000 followers on X.

While the Light Blues have failed at the first hurdle, the offer is a signal of intent from them.

Andrew Cavenagh has made some bold promises!

It is unclear, at this stage, how much Besiktas want in exchange for the 27-year-old winger.

A bid of £7m could be enough for the Turkish club to cash in, but this opening bid could see them enter conversations with Rangers.

Andreas Skov Olsen was the first-choice right-winger towards the back end of last season, but with him no longer there, a quality replacement is being eyed.

What does Cerny’s potential arrival mean for Oliver Antman?

Oliver Antman was signed last summer as a relative unknown with the hope that he would solve the Gers’ right-wing crisis.

The Light Blues have succeeded when the likes of Cerny and Abdallah Sima played there, but both were loan arrivals who the club failed to sign permanently.

However, Antman had a tough time coping with life in Scotland, and he could be on the chopping block this summer.

How much should Rangers demand for Oliver Antman?

He is a man in demand this summer…

Scoring just once in 28 games is an underwhelming return for the Finland international, and it could be the right time to cash in on him.

He certainly does not make the strongest eleven in a title-winning squad, and that is something McInnes is keen on building.

With Cerny’s arrival, he would fall further in the pecking order, making him surplus to requirements.
