Rangers insiders: “definitely something in” Ibrox links, Gers move is “real”

Rangers media partners Heart & Hand believe that there is “definitely something in” reports that the Gers wants to sign New York City FC defender James Sands.

The seven-times capped 21-year-old USA international was impressive as the American side lifted the MLS Cup last season and the Gers are reportedly eyeing a loan move.

The reputable club insiders made the claim on Twitter whilst responding to a fan who mentioned “the American boy” after news of Nathan Patterson’s proposed sale to Everton broke.

Heart & Hand aren’t the only Rangers fan media with close links to the Ibrox club who’ve been mentioning James Sands either.

The popular Four Lads Had a Dream blog also mentioned the talented American international defender in his latest blog, which is free to view HERE.

Four Lads claim that interest in James Sands is “real” and confirmed that Rangers “will look to move quickly”.

James Sands can help bolster an injury-hit Rangers defence

For supporters eager to see the defence bolstered ahead of the new season, this will come as good news as the Gers look to retain the Scottish Premiership title.

Rangers have suffered with a strained defence so far this season, the emergence of Calvin Bassey under Giovanni van Bronckhorst helping to spare the blushes of an injury hit area of the squad.

But whilst the likes of Swedish international Filip Helander and Nigerian counterpart Leon Balogun have had legitimate injury issues, the likes of Jack Simpson have failed to impress.

The 25-year-old ex-Bournemouth defender could now shipped out in this window and it’s his place that James Sands will likely take in the Rangers squad.

With Filip Helander and Leon Balogun set to return from injury in the new year, and Connor Goldson set to stay at Ibrox beyond the window, Rangers will go into the second half of the season in a strong place defensively.

If James Sands also needs any recommendations regarding Rangers, he can look no further than an ex-Ibrox star who is a current teammate in New York.
