Jack Butland may have already played his final game for Rangers in the 2025/26 Scottish Premiership season.

Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Butland, and him moving to City Ground would likely see him as their third-choice goalkeeper.

The 33-year-old remains the Light Blues’ number one, but Danny Rohl is keen on signing a new keeper in the coming weeks.

Who must Rangers sell as part of the squad overhaul this summer?

Cavenagh and Rohl have major decisions to make.

Rangers unlikely to get over a million for Jack Butland

Four Lads Had a Dream’s Stevie Clifford believes that Rangers are unlikely to get over a million for Butland.

While they would like to get more, at 33 and with only a year left on his deal, there are unlikely to be clubs willing to shell out that kind of money.

Clifford has also slammed the English keeper for his distribution and has pointed out that he has made a number of high-profile errors.

What does this mean for Jack Butland? 🤔

If he were the one calling the shots, he would be parting ways with Butland this summer.

He told Rangers Review: “Unfortunately, a guy that’s made a lot of high-profile errors. The thing with Jack that perplexes me at times, he can make wonderful saves and then the ones you think he will, he just doesn’t make them. I personally think he’s got a real problem with shots that come at him.

“His distribution is awful.

“I’m pointing more towards shaking Jack’s hand and saying, ‘Thanks very much for everything.’

“Let’s see if we could get a million pounds and off he goes as a third choice down south somewhere. People always say a million pound, he’s got a year left and he’s 33.

“I don’t think we’re able to command three and four.

“We would take it, but I don’t think they are able to command that kind of money.”

Why cashing in on Butland makes sense for the Ibrox outfit

At 33, Butland is not going to get any better, and he does not fit the profile of goalkeeper that Rohl prefers.

The German wants to have a keeper who’s good with the ball at his feet, which would help the team properly build out from the back.

Butland has shown that he is not good at that, and if there is a market for him, it makes sense to sell him.

He would go for very little in January and for free next summer, so it makes sense to part ways with him in the coming weeks.
