Michael Beale will be hoping that the forwards he has already signed will be good enough to score the goals needed to win Rangers the title, however, Fashion Sakala’s exit sees a lot of goals head out the door and Duk could be the perfect replacement.
There is no such thing as a guarantee in the transfer market but in Duk the Light Blues gaffer could target a player with a proven track record in Scotland.
Rangers need to add that element of chaos and pace to the attack and Duk has shown that he can provide that and more in the Scottish Premiership after being tipped to be perfect in the past.
Rangers could have perfect Sakala replacement in Duk
Duk is very Sakala-esque in terms of how he plays.
Capable of playing through the middle or off either flank, the former Benfica academy youngster has the sort of versatility that is needed in Rangers attack.
The 23-year old can stand a defender up 1v1 or run into space behind defences, the perfect mix for domestic and European football.
What Duk would bring to Rangers is more control.
Fashion Sakala, despite being sold for a reported £3m fee, sometimes looked like he was the last person who knew what he was doing.
The Aberdeen forward is more measured in his approach and doesn’t just run into traffic.
With 18 goals and six assists, Duk has better numbers than Sakala albeit from more minutes.
This can be balanced with the fact that Aberdeen were rotten for most of the season, in a dominant team he would be expected to, at least, match these figures.
Aberdeen, as always, wouldn’t be easy to deal with, but Rangers have to get back to buying local.
It is more often than not cheaper and less risky.
With Sakala away, Duk is a tap-in that even the Zambian wouldn’t miss.
