Rangers have forward call to make after transfer revelation

Fashion Sakala is set to have his departure from Rangers announced after the player himself wrote a letter of thanks to fans.

One accusation that could never be thrown at the Zambia international was a lack of effort but he also leaves with a more than credible goal contribution per minute ratio.

Michael Beale’s job might not be to replace Fashion Sakala but to find a player who is more refined for Rangers with similar pace and who can bring the same numbers.

The squad needs to be trimmed but the forward line looks a little short of variety without Sakala.

Rabbi Matondo is a flying machine but wasn’t trusted against Kilmarnock, that in itself paints its own picture and Scott Wright wasn’t even in the squad.

Fashion Sakala departure should see Rangers make transfer move

Luis Palma was an early summer target and a fee of only £3.5m was quoted as being enough to sign the Honduras international.

Like Fashion Sakala, Palma would bring pace and goals to the Rangers attack but with a little less chaos.

Ryan Fraser is so far out of the picture at Newcastle that he doesn’t even have a squad number but, despite being a useful home grown option, he has never consistently scored goals.

Morgan Whittaker was heavily linked in January but he has since moved to Plymouth for £1m, less than what Rangers reportedly offered.

The 22-year old has started the season on fire, scoring in his last five games and opening the competitive season with a goal and assist.

Michael Beale will have a list of names and he has dropped a hint that there could be more additions – “maybe one or two more arrivals” to be precise.

With Fashion Sakala gone, the Rangers manager surely had to realise that Matondo and Scott Wright can’t be the only winger or wide forward options if we are to win the league.

The predictability and lack of creativity against Kilmarnock is all the evidence we need.
