As Rangers stutter at Aberdeen, Bojan Miovski once again showed why he’s a very suitable Lawrence Shankland alternative.
Whilst much of the chatter has been around the Hearts captain, Bojan Miovski is a Scottish Premiership striking alternative who continues to pull up trees.
But whether or not Rangers would be legitimately interested in the Aberdeen striker is irrelevant when you consider the Dons may well resist playing ball over a transfer.
Moreover, when Kris Boyd was tipping the Montenegrin hitman to join Rangers, he claimed Aberdeen would probably be looking for around £5m.
Bojan Miovski hits Rangers where it hurts
Whilst we don’t suspect Aberdeen will bank anything like that for Bojan Miovski, the player’s emergence alongside Lawrence Shankland as the division’s top non-Old Firm striker was realised at Pittodrie.
In a frantic first 15 minutes, Bojan Miovski gave Rangers star Connor Goldson the runaround and the Ibrox side struggled to contain the Montenegro international.
With strike partner Ester Sokler having missed a gilt-edged chance just minutes before, when Miovski was put through there would be no such flapping.
Curling the ball cooly past Jack Butland with his first touch, it was Bojan Miovski’s 11th goal of the season and second in two campaigns against Rangers.
Lawrence Shankland keeps up scoring form
As Bojan Miovski was pulling up trees in the 1-1 draw with Rangers, Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland was doing his bit at Tynecastle.
The Jambos’ weekend fixture saw the return of Craig Levein, this time in charge of St Johnstone, and a tight match was decided by a solitary goal from the Scotland international.
Having been routinely mentioned alongside the Ibrox club, Lawrence Shankland has the Premiership knowledge and homegrown status which makes him an attractive proposition.

But Bojan Miovski represents a player with potentially more room to grow and by proxy a potentially greater resale value.
At a time when player trading is very much the buzzword in Govan, it could make Bojan Miovski a smart investment.
It’s just a shame watching Rangers fans aren’t the only ones who think so.
