Earlier in the day Rangers-tipped Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski was being touted for a move to the J-League.
But now according to the Daily Record [9:46am 21/11], Aberdeen are yet to hear anything from Japan with regards the Macedonian international hitman.
It was the same outlet that had brought the story to Scottish shores earlier in the day, having claimed reports in Japan were linking Bojan Miovski.
Those claims suggested that J-League side Nagaoya Grampus were set to offer Bojan Miovski an annual salary of over £1m.
Bojan Miovski on fine Aberdeen form
Whilst turning our noses up at Scottish Premiership strikers is the norm at Rangers – see Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland – Bojan Miovski poses an interesting option.
Not least because he’s not Scottish, a characteristic Rangers have certainly shied away from in recent seasons, and a fully-fledged Macedonian international.
Having joined Aberdeen last summer, Bojan Miovski has impressed in Scottish football over his year and a half in the country.
Netting 28 goals in 62 games for the Dons, the striker already has 10 this season and is on course to beat last season’s total.
Rangers have not been officially linked to Bojan Miovski but rather have been pointed in the direction of the striker by the likes of Kris Boyd and Tam McManus.
Do Rangers need a new striker?
The £5m price tag attached to Bojan Miovski from Kris Boyd probably doesn’t help the Macedonian’s Rangers case, nor does the increasingly embittered rivalry with Aberdeen.
But the links do open a wider debate about the striker position with plenty of chatter also surrounding Hearts skipper Lawrence Shankland at Ibrox.
Rangers currently have three first-team striker options on their books, with Cyriel Dessers, Danilo and Kemar Roofe all missing large chunks of this season.
In Dessers’ case it’s because he forgot how to play football.

Out of the three only Brazilian striker Danilo appears on the right track with Kemar Roofe also subject to much injury debate after another setback.
Abdallah Sima can also play in the position but when you assess the state of the squad, a striker may well top manager Philippe Clement’s January wishlist at Ibrox.
Does Bojan Miovski fit the bill for Rangers? Possibly.
But for £5m let’s just save Aberdeen fans the hassle and rule this one out.
